Though it’s generally assumed that Thanos didn’t pick and choose who survived the snap, the same can’t be said for the Avengers: Infinity War writers, who clearly spared the original six MCU heroes for a reason. Indeed, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the line-up from 2012’s The Avengers will be the focus of next month’s Avengers: Endgame, and in a new post from Jeremy Renner, the “A6” are hyped up once more.
The actor’s post compiles the various character posters that recently dropped for Iron Man, Bruce Banner, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Renner’s own Hawkeye. In the caption, the star offered the following shout out:
“Have a great Friday everyone… love my A6!”
In recent years, the original six Avengers have been scattered across various corners of the MCU, with Hawkeye sitting out last year’s Infinity War completely. And while it’s safe to assume that Endgame will finally reassemble the team, this may well be the last time we see them all together in one place.
As the release date looms closer, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Endgame will serve as the swan song for more than one of the Phase 1 stars. Out of the six heroes, Natasha Romanoff is the only character confirmed to come back for a future project – and if the old rumors that the Black Widow solo movie is a prequel are anything to go by, then even she isn’t guaranteed to make it out of Endgame alive.
In any case, we’ll find out who has to make the sacrifice play and who gets to settle down for a quiet retirement when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
