Avengers: Endgame’s 3 Hour Runtime Confirmed

In these last couple of months, there’s been a lot of talk about the expected runtime of Avengers: Endgame, which most of us had long assumed to be the MCU’s lengthiest movie to date. And while we’ve seen a few reports lately that place the Avengers: Infinity War sequel slightly above the 3-hour mark, it looks like THR just might have the final figure.

Earlier today, the outlet published a report assessing the recent box office projections for the film’s opening weekend. In the final paragraph, however, the article adds that the movie runs 3 hours and 58 seconds. This figure falls just a tad shy of reports from last month, which had Anthony and Joe Russo’s next film at a length of 3 hours and 2 minutes, not that audiences or their bladders are likely to feel the difference.

THR goes on to observe that the half-hour difference in runtime between Infinity War and Endgame equates to one fewer showing per day on any given screen. This is likely part of the reason why early box office tracking has the sequel headed for a domestic opening in the $200-$250 million range, which would fall a little short of Infinity War’s record-breaking $257.6 million debut. No doubt it’s also added to the struggle of some fans to book opening night tickets, many of which are currently being sold on eBay at extortionate prices.

That being said, it doesn’t look like a 3-hour runtime will be enough to put off most people, who generally seem happy to give the Russo Brothers all the time they need to wrap up the MCU’s current era. We’ll find out just what these 181 minutes have in store for us when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
