We’re now twenty-two days away from the release of Avengers: Endgame, which just so happens to be the twenty-second film in the MCU. With that in mind, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have started a countdown to the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, in which they suggest one Marvel movie every day for fans to (re-)watch.

What’s more, it seems that the Russo Brothers’ planned marathon is going to recommend the films in chronological order. This, of course, means starting off with Captain America: The First Avenger, which the Russos declared to be first on the agenda in a recent tweet:

“#ENDGAMECOUNTDOWN: T-22 days. Prepare yourself by watching one MCU movie a day in chronological order. Start your #MCUMarathon with Captain America: The First Avenger.”

As we progress through the month, it’ll be interesting to see how the Russo Brothers choose to order the films, perhaps settling a few fan debates along the way.

At the same time, many MCU enthusiasts will likely have their own preferred order for catching up. For instance, there’s certainly a case to be made that watching the films in order of release is more ideal. Captain Marvel, for instance, will presumably be next in the Russo Brothers’ countdown, and yet the movie very much builds on developments from Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers movies.

Incidentally, for those who don’t have enough time on their hands to watch twenty-two superhero movies in the next few weeks, Anthony Russo recently recommended Infinity War and Captain America: Civil War as the two to check out before going into the new pic. But regardless of how you choose to prep yourself, Avengers: Endgame will be bringing some closure to the current MCU era when it arrives in theaters on April 26th.
