Avengers: Infinity War has to be the most talked-about movie of 2018, with the millions upon millions of us who saw the film discussing its shocking events for months afterwards in real-life and online. The Marvel effort became a true cultural standpoint that’d be hard to top. If the studio didn’t have an even bigger sequel lined up for this month in Avengers: Endgame, that is.

But can Endgame make even more of an impact than Infinity War? That remains to be seen, but the Russo brothers are sure of it. When asked by ComicBook.com about their expectations of what fans’ reactions will be, Joe Russo responded that he’s anticipating even more intense “water cooler talk” this time around.

“All we’ll say is even more water cooler talk. Probably bigger water cooler talk.”

This does make sense. After all, Infinity War got people talking even though, let’s be honest, we knew that many of its surprises and twists surely wouldn’t stick for long. I mean, there’s no way Spider-Man, Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy are staying dead – not when they all have mega-successful franchises to lead. In Endgame, though, all bets are off as it’s the grand finale to the MCU as we know it and many of its stars complete their contracts with this film. If any hero dies, it could be for real this time.

Besides that, there are bound to be lots of shock cameos, incredibly quotable bits of dialogue or instantly iconic scenes that come out of the movie that may end up topping what Infinity War delivered. Plus, as one door closes another opens, so Endgame will likely set a few plates spinning for future MCU entries. No doubt fans will spend a long time picking those out and theorizing about what they could mean.

In any case, we’ll get to find out if the Russos’ prediction is correct when Avengers: Endgame lands in cinemas on April 26th.
