Star Wars The Rise of skywalker

14 Dazzling New Photos Show Off Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Well, it's finally here. We can stop called it the deeply dull Episode IX and christen it with its official (and pretty cool) title Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. By now you'll have seen the excellent teaser trailer, in which Rey pulls off a very cool lightsaber flip against an incoming TIE Interceptor and we get a couple of quick glances at all of our favorite characters. By now, you’ll have seen the excellent teaser trailer, in which Rey pulls off a very cool lightsaber flip against an incoming TIE Interceptor and we also get a couple of quick glances at all of our favorite characters. The last portion of the trailer flies by pretty fast though, making this gallery ideal to take some time and analyze what we might’ve missed.

See for yourself below:

My biggest questions coming out of this preview are as follows: What’s Rey doing with one of the medals from the closing ceremony of A New Hope (and is it Luke or Han’s)? Whose hairy hands are repairing Kylo Ren’s smashed helmet and which planet are those Death Star pieces on?

And then, of course, there’s the apparent surprise return of a character that nobody thought would be back: the Emperor. Not to mention who the titular Skywalker is going to be. The only living Skywalkers by the time of the movie will be Leia and Kylo Ren, so this could this be a hint that the latter might be turning back to the light?

These are the kinds of questions destined to occupy our minds from now until the film’s release, and they’re going to generate millions of words of speculation. But, before that kicks off in earnest, let’s just enjoy the thrill of seeing a proper new Star Wars movie being unveiled. Sure, the Disney machine might have slightly diluted this excitement with its conveyor belt of spinoffs, but there’s definitely something special in seeing the final jigsaw piece in the Skywalker Saga beginning to fall into place.
