By now, you’ve likely heard that almost 5 minutes of spoiler-heavy footage from Avengers: Endgame has leaked online. Whether or not you choose to look at the content is, of course, up to you, but in a recent letter from co-directors Anthony and Joe Russo, the filmmakers urge their fans to at least have the courtesy not to give the game away to anyone hoping to go in fresh.
The Russo Brothers shared a similar letter in the lead-up to Avengers: Infinity War, so perhaps the timing of this statement so soon after the leak is purely coincidental. But whether you’ve watched the surfaced clips or simply manage to catch the movie before your friends do, the pair has asked that you keep the spoilers to yourself:
“To the greatest fans in the world,
This is it. This is the end. The end of an unprecedented narrative mosaic spanning eleven years and eleven franchises.
For all of you who have been on this journey with us since the very beginning, sharing every high and low with your family, your friends, your classmates, your co-workers. Investing so deeply in every character and storyline. Laughing. Cheering Shedding tears. Giving so freely of your thoughts and emotions in spirited dialogue, theories, fan art, and fan fiction. Please know that the two of us, along with everyone involved in Endgame, have worked tirelessly for the last three years with the sole intention of delivering a surprising and emotionally powerful conclusion to the Infinity Saga.

When you see Endgame in the coming weeks, please don’t spoil it for others, the same way you wouldn’t want it spoiled for you.

The recent leak has got Marvel fans fleeing social media, and honestly, that might’ve been the right move for anyone wary of spoilers even if these clips hadn’t emerged. After all, with the review embargo lifting on Tuesday, April 23rd, and the film getting an early release in China on the 24th, the internet will soon be flooded with comments from people who’ve seen the movie.
That being said, fans in North America only have another 10 days to wait before they can witness the Phase 3 finale for themselves. No doubt, the film will confirm or refute a lot of theories that have been circulating the forums for the past year. But at the same time, you can probably expect the movie to leave us with plenty of questions as it lays the groundwork for the MCU’s next era. And we’ll find out what kind of world is left for Phase 4 to explore when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
