Jimmy Kimmel Says Those Avengers: Endgame Spoilers Are A National Emergency

The joke was in reference to the four and half minutes of footage that hit the Internet earlier in the week, much to the chagrin of the Russo Brothers. The co-directors have since pleaded with fans not to spoil the film for others, just as they did in the lead-up for Avengers: Infinity War.

Whether or not moviegoers comply with their request remains to be seen, but Kimmel is hoping the highest office in the country can do something to make sure details stay under wraps.

“Hey, this is a national emergency that the President needs to do something about. Have you seen the leaked Avengers footage? Avengers: Endgame doesn’t come out until a week from Friday, but apparently footage from the movie is making the rounds online. And the footage has spoilers in it, so the Russo brothers, who direct the film, are going directly to fans asking them to respect their visions for the films.”

Kimmel was clearly poking fun at Trump’s controversial state of emergency declaration a month ago that was designed to get him money for his border wall. While many Democrats and Republicans may be split on that issue, Marvel fans of any political party should be onboard for the comedian’s proposal.

Then again, Kimmel is pretty behind when it comes to seeing movies. He later joked in his monologue that “I haven’t seen The Sixth Sense yet so keep that one under your hat too as a favor to me.”

Regardless, his proposal is one that the president could take advantage of if he wants to endear himself to a large chunk of the population. Similar to presidential pardons for turkeys on Thanksgiving, Trump could use his power to issue a lighthearted executive order that urges people to keep quiet about the highly-anticipated superhero movie.

America is divided now even more than it was onscreen in Captan America: Civil War, but Avengers: Endgame could be just what the country needs to reconcile with one another. After all, given that half of the population has been killed off by Thanos, those still here need to put their political differences aside and come together to fight off spoilers.
