Seeing as how so many great superheroes spawned from his brain, it was only fitting that he appeared in a variety of cameos in films featuring those very characters. But now that Stan is unfortunately no longer with us, his final onscreen appearance will be witnessed once Avengers: Endgame storms cinemas next week.

As it turns out though, True Believers have something else to look forward to in due time, as Joe and Anthony Russo are working on a documentary of some sort that’s focused on Lee. Here’s what’s known at present time:

“We love Stan Lee and I think it’s incredibly special that Endgame will be his final cameo. We are fascinated by the life of Stan Lee and we are actually developing a little something that has to do with his work in the history of Marvel,” Anthony shared with the IANS. “But we are not ready to present it or talk about it yet. It’s more of a documentary.”

Right now, there’s no way of knowing whether this’ll be a feature-length presentation released in theaters or direct-to-video, or if it’ll be part of Endgame‘s bonus content once it eventually makes its way to Blu-ray. My gut tells me it’ll wind up being a featurette of some sort, but either way, it should be a joy to watch.

What’s cool about documentaries of this sort is that not only do they inform us about the person being spotlighted, but they also shed light on the climate of the industry throughout the decades. Considering that Stan Lee pretty much owned the Silver Age, one would assume that we’d hear a lot about how things went down in the 1960s.

Avengers: Endgame opens in theaters on April 26th.
