Marvel Looking To Develop A Valkyrie TV Show, Tessa Thompson To Star

Tessa Thompson made a big impact with her debut as Valkyrie in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, as MCU fans immediately called for her to show up again. Unfortunately, the Asgardian warrior sat out Avengers: Infinity War, but the good news is she'll aid the remaining heroes in their quest to defeat Thanos in next week's Avengers: Endgame. And the signs look promising for her Marvel career post-Phase Three as well, if our info's correct.

We Got This Covered has been informed by a source that the studio is looking to develop a Valkyrie TV series. Note that at this stage, the House of Ideas is only “looking” at the possibility and it’s not in active development just yet. We can presume this would be another Marvel Studios project destined for the Disney Plus streaming service, though, with previously announced efforts including Loki, Falcon and Winter Soldier and WandaVision.

Just as these will all see the original actors returning to their iconic roles, the Valkyrie show is expected to see Thompson reprise her character as well. Here’s the most intriguing part of our intel, though: we’ve been told that Endgame leaves Valkyrie in a very interesting position which neatly paves the way for the heroine landing her own vehicle. No word on what that could be right now, but we’ll know soon enough.

Even without this news, Thompson’s continued relationship with Marvel seemed like a cert. She’s already badgered studio president Kevin Feige about an all-female Avengers movie, for one. Plus, she’s now internet pals with Brie Larson and fans really want to see Valkyrie and Captain Marvel get together – in every sense of the phrase – in the MCU. Then, of course, the actress has already told us that Thor 4 with Taika Waititi has been discussed.

Be sure to catch Thompson in Avengers: Endgame on April 26th. Maybe after that hits, we’ll hear more about Marvel’s future plans for Valkyrie.
