Star Trek: Discovery’s Ethan Peck Hopes To Return As Spock In Season 3

After his presence was keenly felt in season 1, Spock actually showed up in the Vulcan flesh in Star Trek: Discovery's second season, with Ethan Peck stepping into the Starfleet-issued shoes of Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto. The actor's portrayal of the iconic character went down well with fans, but this week's finale saw him transfer back over to the U.S.S. Enterprise, apparently leaving the series behind for good.

Peck himself, though, is hopeful that he’ll get the chance to don those pointy ears again in season 3 and beyond. While chatting with Rotten Tomatoes, the star talked openly about Spock’s arc across the season but, when the topic changed to a potential return, Peck became more coy.

Here’s an extract from RT’s interview:

Is there any hope that we’ll see the Enterprise and Spock again?

Peck: Is there hope? Yes, I hope so.

Are you signed up for season 3?

Peck: I can’t say. I know there’s nothing out there on it either way.

But you do hope so?

Peck: Yeah, I hope so.

We might be inferring too much here, but from Peck’s tight-lipped comments, it sounds like he might have already had some discussions with Discovery showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise. As exciting as that is, we’re at a loss at how Spock could come back. After all, the Discovery hopped a thousand years into the future in the finale and Spock’s kinda dead by that point…and in another timeline.

Maybe that Enterprise spinoff that fans are calling for could be on the cards? Anson Mount’s Christopher Pike struck such a chord with Trek lovers that already 20,000 of them have signed a petition calling for him to get his own show, which would also see Peck’s Spock and Rebecca Romijn’s Number One return as well, of course. Kurtzman has said that he’s paying attention to what the fans want, too, so we wouldn’t rule out further adventures for the pre-Kirk Enterprise crew.

Tell us, though, would you like to see more of Spock on Star Trek: Discovery? And are you excited by the idea of an Enterprise spinoff? Have your say in the comments section down below.
