It’s a phenomenal figure, to say the least, but at this point, it’s not a particularly surprising one. As it stands, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel is set to receive the widest North American release of all time, with showings scheduled for over 4,600 screens in the US and Canada. On Fandango, the film is currently pacing to be the site’s biggest pre-seller of all time, and has earned a rare 100/100 on the Fanticipation movie buzz index.

What’s more, Fandango’s managing editor Erik Davis was in attendance at last night’s Endgame premiere, and had some enthusiastic words to say on the flick:

“The wait is finally over. Avengers: Endgame is a masterful epic. It’s everything fans would want: a true culmination of 22 MCU films that not only concludes the story but expands upon it.”

The site has also shared the results of a survey they conducted on filmgoers planning to see this week’s release. Out of the 1,000-plus people polled, 97% said they stay for the post-credits scenes of Marvel movies, while 79% are surprised when people don’t stay to the end. Meanwhile, 81% are trying to avoid all Endgame spoilers, and 57% have temporarily unplugged from social media to do so.

Lastly, 63% feel that the release of Avengers: Endgame “marks a historic moment in cinema,” which is a bold claim, but at the very least, the upcoming flick is set to be a very big deal at the box office. Already, the film has got off to a record-breaking start in China, and if recent projections are anything to go by, then the movie should do similarly well when it arrives in North American theaters on April 26th.
