While Avengers: Endgame is still a couple of days away from hitting theaters, the upcoming Marvel pic has already been officially Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
At the time of writing, it holds a score of 96% and though Black Panther has it beat as far as MCU movies go, with 97%, the critical reception to Endgame still bodes extremely well for its imminent release, and also adds even more fuel to the already raging hype surrounding Anthony and Joe Russo’s latest work.
But it’s not only on Rotten Tomatoes that the film is finding itself taking the spotlight, as Avengers: Endgame has also been crowned IMDb’s most popular movie of all-time today, jumping right to the top of the chart with a 9.3 rating. That means it’s now beaten out classics like The Shawshank Redemption while also passing its predecessor, Infinity War.
All of this is to say that the hype for Avengers: Endgame is quite literally unprecedented at this point, and if you don’t already have your tickets, well, then it sucks to be you. That being said, with the movie set to play on more than 4,600 domestic screens on opening weekend, and AMC planning to keep 18 of its theaters open nonstop Thursday through Saturday, with another 17 locations extending into Sunday, you may just get lucky and find a screening with some availability over the course of the next few days.
As it stands, we fully expect Avengers: Endgame to beat the domestic opening weekend record held by Infinity War, and it’s looking pretty likely that it’ll pass the $300 million mark, too. But we’ll find out if the movie can truly live up the insurmountable hype when it opens in just a few days, on April 26th.
