Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Reveals How Peter Will Deal With Tony’s Death

Fans had a lot of questions about Spider-Man: Far From Home. Even before we saw the movie, we suspected that the sequel would have to deal with the fallout of Avengers: Endgame. And now that we're familiar with the universe-shaking content of the crossover event, it's a fact that the film will have a lot of heavy-lifting to do. After all, it's already been declared the final entry in the MCU's Phase Three.

As you surely know by now, the second trailer for Far From Home dropped this morning and finally shed some light on how we can expect the movie to pick up the leftovers of Endgame. First of all, it’s no surprise that it won’t sidestep the enormous loss of Iron Man from both the world at large and in Peter Parker’s life. In fact, the preview opens with an emotional Peter looking a mural of his late mentor and breaking down while speaking with Happy Hogan, who gives him a moving pep talk: “I don’t think Tony would have done what he did,” he says, “if he didn’t know that you were going to be here after he was gone.”

While it doesn’t make it explicit in this promo, we can infer that Peter’s grief is partly what spurs him into saying goodbye to New York for a while and going on vacation with his friends. This becomes clearer when you remember that the first trailer saw Parker talk about just wanting to be get the chance to be a normal kid. He’s had a pretty rough time of it recently, to say the least, so he definitely deserves a break.

In contrast though, the trailer makes it seem like Spider-Man: Far From Home will mostly ignore the wider fallout of Endgame, that being the fact that Peter and all those that were dusted by Thanos have lost five years of their life and that the world now has to adjust to having them back again. We don’t want to speak too soon, but if this is the case it’s understandable. After all, it’s almost too big a concept to explore in another movie that’s got its own storyline and characters to deal with, right?
