While Avengers: Endgame acted as the concluding entry in Marvel’s 22-film Infinity Saga, the MCU certainly isn’t going anywhere. In fact, we already know of at least 6 or 7 more movies that are in various stages of production, all coming down the pipeline over the course of the next few years.
To date, the only post-Endgame project that Marvel Studios has officially announced is Spider-Man: Far From Home, which will see Tom Holland’s hero partner up with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio. After that, Marvel’s Phase 4 looks to begin in 2021 with the long-awaited Black Widow solo flick, which at this point, seems all but confirmed to be an origin story.
What’s more, Chloé Zhao’s The Eternals will reportedly enter production later this year, with Angelina Jolie said to be in talks for a role. Then there’s Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther 2, which could be with us as soon as 2021, while Scott Derrickson will return to helm Doctor Strange 2 and Short Term 12 director Destin Daniel Cretton set to step behind the camera for Shang-Chi. But what comes after all that?
Well, we’re glad you asked. Earlier today, Marvel Studios announced the release dates for its 2022 slate, and they’re as follows:
February 18, 2022
May 6, 2022
July 29, 2022
So, pretty similar to what we saw this year then, as Captain Marvel hit at the start of March, while Endgame followed at the end of April and Far From Home is set to swing into theaters in July. But what films could these 2022 dates be for? Well, one is very likely Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but it’s still unclear what the other two might be.
Unfortunately, it may be a while before Marvel’s ready to spill on their MCU slate beyond 2021, but it’s clear that the franchise has a bright future ahead of it and if you’ve got any ideas as to which films may occupy those 2022 dates, be sure to let us know down below.
