Dead By Daylight Devs Reveal Scream’s Ghostface As The Next Killer

Developer Behaviour Interactive accidentally leaked their newest piece of downloadable content, thanks to an update which was pushed too early.

Dead By Daylight‘s unique and novel approach to survival horror and asymmetric multiplayer has proven to be a hit with fans and critics alike, and despite the game’s age, developer Behaviour Interactive shows no signs of easing off the gas pedal, at least when it comes to downloadable content. Over the past couple of years, a handful of new maps, killers, and survivors have been released at a steady pace, and just last month, a brand new survivor – Ash Williams, from the legendary Evil Dead franchise – hit digital storefronts.

Even though Dead By Daylight was released back in 2016 on PC (with console ports coming the following year), it still enjoys a rather active fanbase. Just looking at statistics from today, it’s currently the 20th most-popular game on Steam, with over 21,000 players logging in to fight against each other online. It comes as no surprise then that Behaviour Interactive and publisher Starbreeze Studios have taken it upon themselves to release another DLC pack, based on one of the most iconic slasher franchises of our time.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, it seems Behaviour Interactive accidentally pushed an update a little too early, and in turn, revealed that Scream‘s Ghostface will be added to the game. A handful of players noticed that the new character appeared in the game’s menu alongside other killers.

The early patch didn’t make it to PlayStation 4 or PC, though the developers did confirm (on Twitter) that the update will be going live in the coming days.

Some lucky players got a glimpse of our upcoming chapter release content in today’s mid-chapter update. We already pushed the right update live to all players on PC and PS4. XBOX users will receive it within a few days. In the meantime, enjoy the early hype on the next chapter!

It’s worth mentioning that the Ghostface’s mask is based on the iconic look made popular in Wes Craven’s film series, as opposed to the redesigned model seen in the MTV series, but that likely won’t bother too many people.

Thankfully, players won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on Dead by Daylight‘s newest killer, as he should be here soon enough.
