We just got our first teaser trailer (and not to mention title) for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker not too long ago at the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. And given that the highly-anticipated finale is set to be released in only a few months time, we’ll surely be getting more and more details to nibble on.
The latest comes courtesy of Reddit user ScoutTheTrooper and the cover for the film’s visual dictionary, who’s shared a look at a new type of snowtrooper coming to terrorize that galaxy far, far away. As you can see down below, it appears a lot like the kind of snowtrooper first introduced in The Force Awakens, with the nearly full-covered mask and whited-out uniform. But as you can see, this guy’s got a snazzy looking cape.
Is it just me, or does he looks like a mix between the classic trooper and Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Krennic from Rogue One? In any case, I doubt the cape will help the soldier aim any better, and all I can hear looking at it is Edna Mode screaming “NO CAPES!” But it’s a touch-up to a well-known design, and kudos can be given to the designers for doing something new.
While this change is a nice little treat for Star Wars fans, we unfortunately don’t know when the next piece of official promo material for The Rise of Skywalker will be arriving. With Mark Hamill even beginning to feel a bit of “Star Wars fatigue,” pacing will be important for Lucasfilm and Disney over the coming months, so it’ll be interesting to see what they do.
We can speculate that the next big reveal is going to have to wait for SDCC 2019 in July. After all, Star: Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is already confirmed for a panel at the famous convention, so maybe Ian McDiarmid will be telling the projectionist to roll the movie’s next official trailer at that time?
