Falcon in Avengers Infinity War

Here’s How Anthony Mackie Could Look As The MCU’s Next Captain America

Avengers: Endgame shook up the MCU in some major ways. One of the most notable is that Steve Rogers, now elderly after time-traveling to the past and getting married to Peggy Carter, handed both his vibranium shield and the mantle of Captain America over to his good pal Sam Wilson. The film ended with the promise that Falcon would become the next Cap, so naturally, fans are excited to see how the character's costume will be redesigned as he takes over from his friend.

To help us picture just that, artist Aikoaiham has now created an awesome piece which imagines Sam Wilson’s Captain America outfit. Based on a Falcon character poster from The Winter Soldier, he’s done a terrific job blending the MCU’s typically more grounded superhero suits with Sam’s Cap threads from the comics.

Have a look for yourself below:

Of course, there’s been much debate over whether Steve should have chosen Sam or Bucky Barnes as his successor. Some wish he’d trusted Bucky with the mantle as he’s his oldest friend. The Russos have argued, though, that Sam embodies the moral fibre and values of Captain America more. They’ve also clarified that this a mutual decision on Bucky’s part, as Barnes knew that Steve was going to live out his life in the past before he vanished into the Quantum Realm.

It’s unclear when we’ll actually get to see Sam suit up as Cap for real in the MCU, but the good news is that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will soon team up again for Disney Plus’ Falcon and Winter Soldier TV series. The title of that, though, heavily suggests this is a prequel and won’t deal with the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame. Here’s hoping for a Captain America 4 down the line, then.
