But before anyone such as Thor, Black Panther or Captain Marvel can team up with any mutants – or said mutants receiving a Disney-released movie of their own, for that matter – we have X-Men: Dark Phoenix to deal with. All negative talk aside, I’m admittedly looking forward to that one because I’ll watch any flick having to do with this franchise.

Of course, once the X-Men do arrive in the MCU, they’ll be recast and their movie series will likewise be rebooted. Still, that hasn’t stopped Nicholas Hoult, who’s been around since the days of First Class, from dreaming. Here’s what he recently told MTV International:

“Yeah, I think that would be cool if they do blend them together. I’m not sure what their plans are, but I loved playing the role and I got to take him to a new spot in this film [Dark Phoenix] and try different things so if there was a way to keep growing within that character then that’d be something I’d be interested in.”

Again, the X-Men are to be rebooted, so I doubt we’ll see Hoult in any potential Avengers vs. X-Men live action adaptation. No matter if he’d like to come back, the decision is ultimately up to the studio.

Regardless of whomever plays Beast in the MCU, it’d be wise for Kevin Feige and company to make sure Hank McCoy is part of their upcoming plans. After all, the fur ball has history as an Avenger in the comic book realm, so it’d seem only natural to carry that over to the silver screen.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix opens in theaters on June 7th.
