First Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Reactions Call It Breathtaking

While it’s hard to fault the marketing for the upcoming monster movie – which delivered one of the best trailers of 2018 back in July – early box office projections haven’t been particularly kind to the flick. Long range tracking from BoxOfficePro, for example, had the film headed for a domestic debut in the range of $40-$60 million. Granted, that’s nothing to be sniffed at, but seeing how the feature is expected to be the stepping stone to further crossover projects in the MonsterVerse, the figures still leave plenty to be desired.

It may therefore come as a relief to Legendary Pictures that the film’s Twitter response has been largely glowing, with many viewers praising the work for its scale and spectacle:

Though 2014’s Godzilla certainly has its fans, the movie proved divisive for its surprisingly restrained approach to its kaiju action. Last year, however, King of the Monsters helmsman Michael Dougherty offered his assurance that there’ll be “no holding back” in the upcoming sequel. Sure enough, it seems that this month’s release is even winning over viewers who weren’t entirely sold on the Big-G’s previous Hollywood outing:

Needless to say, this all bodes very well for the film’s release, but you can decide for yourself if Godzilla: King of the Monsters is worth all the praise when it arrives in theaters on May 31st. After that, the atomic-breathed lizard faces his most famous opponent yet when Godzilla vs. Kong comes out on March 13th, 2020.
