Fortnite season 9

New Fortnite Leak Reveals John Wick Skin And Further Event Details

Fortnite's second crossover with Marvel to celebrate the release of Avengers: Endgame has come and gone. Once more, Thanos has tired of Battle Island and returned to the cosmos, likely with his downtrodden Chitauri in tow. Indeed, the war for control of the Infinity Stones has concluded, in turn making it difficult to justify a third visit from the purple-skinned supervillain in future events. Sad news, for sure, but Epic already appears to have secured yet another lucrative collaborative deal with Hollywood.

No, players aren’t about to suddenly find themselves inundated with Pokémon to catch and battle (though how cool would that be?) to commemorate the release of Detective Pikachu, but something else entirely. As veteran fans will surely be aware, references to the John Wick series have been made in the past via character skins and items clearly inspired by the slick action thriller trilogy, though they were never named as such in any official capacity.

That, however, is all about to change. Following Fortnite‘s latest update, committed data miner Lucas7yoshi has dived, headfirst, into the game’s files to see what they could find. Having since surfaced for air, this is what they discovered.

The likeness is unmistakable – Keanu Reeves is soon to be immortalized in-game as the acclaimed film series’ titular character, but that’s not all. Exclusive Back Bling will also be available as part of the event, which, if prior leaks are to be believed, will be dubbed Wick’s Bounty and be a special Limited-Time mode. Lucas shared several further images supposedly tied to the occasion as well, all of which you can check out below.

So, it’s clear as day, now, that Fortnite‘s populace will soon be taking up the occupation of assassin, but it remains to be seen what rewards will be on offer. Reeves’ likeness will clearly be used in the aforementioned LTM, but who knows whether it’ll be available as an obtainable skin. Potentially allowing players to permanently don the actor’s skin likely brings with it a wealth of legal hoops to jump through that simply isn’t feasible, but we’ll see.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum open in theaters May 17th, so we expect the first official details on Fortnite‘s upcoming crossover to arrive shortly. Stay tuned for more.
