Avengers: Endgame Star Thinks Thor’s Sticking With The Guardians Of The Galaxy

Avengers: Endgame wrapped up Thor's post-Ragnarok arc by having the God of Thunder leave the kingdom of New Asgard in the capable hands of Valkyrie and head off into space onboard the Benatar with Peter Quill and his crew. Many fans have assumed this means Chris Hemsworth will be officially joining the team in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but we've yet to get any sort of confirmation on that.

One Endgame star certainly thinks this is the case, though. Bucky Barnes himself, Sebastian Stan, recently attended a panel at a Comic-Con called Jus a Bello in Italy where he spoke about his love for the dynamic between Hemsworth and Chris Pratt in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. “I think the funniest characters are Star-Lord and Thor,” he told the crowd.

When asked if he thought we’d get more of the squabbling superheroes in Vol. 3, Stan replied: “Yeah, where else is he gonna go, Thor? He’s on that spaceship.”

It’s difficult to say how much we can read into Stan’s comments here. It’s possible he’s speaking from insider information, though, as it might be common knowledge behind the scenes at Marvel Studios that Endgame deliberately set up Thor with the Guardians for James Gunn’s threequel. Alternatively, he might’ve been slipped some spoilers by the likes of Chris Pratt and Karen Gillan who’ve admitted that they’ve read the script for Vol. 3 in the past.

Or maybe Stan just knows as much as we do and is making the obvious conclusion, much like the fans are. After all, the God of Thunder hitching a ride with the Guardians could just be a way to get him back in space for Thor 4, which Tessa Thompson has revealed has been pitched with director Taika Waititi attached.

In any case, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to film as soon as next year, so if Hemsworth’s involved in shooting, we should have our answer shortly. If not, it seems Avengers: Endgame might have misled us all, Sebastian Stan included.
