Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker May Have A Luke, Leia And Han Flashback Scene

Of all the criticisms slung at the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, one of the most common is how it didn't give fans a chance to see Luke, Leia and Han reunited after so long. In fact, this is one that Mark Hamill agrees with. The star even pitched an earlier return for his character so that he could appear alongside Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in The Force Awakens. A recent tweet of his also reiterates his strong feelings on the missed opportunity.

Given this oversight of the previous movies, it would make sense for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to correct it as the film wraps up not just this trilogy but the whole Skywalker saga to date. And how could it be a satisfactory ending to the story that began with A New Hope if it didn’t bring together the terrific trio that started it all? Thankfully, the signs are pointing to this being the plan.

As previously reported, it’s rumored that Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd may have stood in for her late mother for a flashback scene that revisits a younger Leia. Much like the heroine’s cameo in Rogue One, CGI would be used to match Fisher’s appearance. Things get even more interesting from here, though, as MakingStarWars.net adds that the scene in question would also feature Hamill and Ford, too.

MSW theorizes, based on all available information though they can’t be sure, that the sequence takes place after Return of the Jedi and will explain why Leia didn’t train as a Jedi under Luke. It’s said that the Force-sensitive twins receive a vision of the dark future, involving Ben Solo, which causes Leia to focus on her military career in hopes of avoiding it. This may lead to the vision coming true, though.

Again, this is just a rumor for the time being, but it sure sounds like it could be a fan favourite moment in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker if it’s true. Either way, we’ll find out on December 20th.
