If the end of Avengers: Endgame says anything, it says that Thor’s story isn’t over yet. By the time the three-hour galactic epic has come to a close, the God of Thunder, chubby and hairy, has found himself a place in the lives of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Though Star Lord would probably say “forced” is a more appropriate word.
Despite what the characters themselves may think on the screen, reports in the real world have also announced Chris Hemsworth’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But it looks like the Australian-bred actor doesn’t know anything about that.
In a recent conversation with Variety, Hemsworth had this to say about his future as the superhero:
“I’d still love to do more, to be honest, and I don’t know what the plan is. I feel like we’ve opened up such a different character. I feel more energized for the possibility of where it could go. But I’ll use that in other places and other characters if it’s the end here.”
Following the release of Endgame, fans got a brand new look at Thor, and it’s since been among the most contended topics of the mega blockbuster. While some claim that the film bullies and fat shames the character, who does gain quite a belly in the first act, others have embraced his appearance – going so far as to dress as “Fat Thor” at various comic-cons.
With all the attention that’s been directed towards the God of Thunder since the last film – but also reaching back to Ragnarok in 2017 – it’d be foolish for Marvel Studios to exclude Hemsworth from their ever-expanding franchise. But again, given where he’s been positioned at the end of Avengers: Endgame, that seems like an unlikely fate.
Tell us, though, where would you like to see Thor go next in the MCU? As always, sound off in the comments section down below with your thoughts.
