47 Meters Down: Uncaged Trailer Teases Terrifying Shark Attacks

Johannes Roberts is back in the director’s chair to direct 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, the sequel to 2017’s surprise hit shark attack.

Halloween might be a ways off, but this summer is shaping up to be a real treat for horror fans. Aside from It: Chapter Two and Child’s Play both of which cater towards those with a love of the supernatural and the unknown – Alexandre Aja and Sam Raimi are teaming up on Crawl, a disaster film that pits a father and daughter duo against a handful of deadly alligators during a Florida hurricane.

Of course, many would prefer to just see a good old fashioned shark attack movie and luckily, director Johannes Roberts has you covered. You might remember his 2017 sleeper hit, 47 Meters Downwhich saw Mandy Moore and Claire Holt teaming up to escape from a school of great white sharks at the bottom of the ocean.

Despite middling critical reception, the film performed decently at the box office and did well enough to warrant a follow-up. And though the aptly titled 47 Meters Down: Uncaged might not feature any of the characters from the original, it still looks to serve up the same bloody, toothy action that captivated audiences two years ago.

As detailed by Bloody Disgusting, the movie follows a group of friends who become trapped underwater, stuck in an old cave system that’s infested with hungry sharks. The trailer (which you can check out for yourself above) features plenty of close encounters and near-deaths, and it certainly looks like it’s shaping up to be an intense thrill ride. Interestingly, aside from veteran actors Nia Long and John Corbett, the film also stars Corinne Foxx and Sistine Stallone, daughters of Jamie Foxx and Sylvester Stallone, respectively.

If you’re looking to catch 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, you won’t have to wait too much longer. The next entry in the shark-infested series is due out on August 16th. Don’t miss it.
