Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen have already created two of the most powerful and talked about films in recent memory with Hunger and Shame. Now, it seems that the two will work together again on McQueen's next film, 12 Years A Slave. The film is a "true story is based on Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in 1841 and sent to a slave plantation in Louisiana, which he was rescued from in 1853."

Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen have already created two of the most powerful and talked about films in recent memory with Hunger and Shame. Now, it seems that the two will work together again on McQueen’s next film, 12 Years A Slave. The film is a “true story is based on Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in 1841 and sent to a slave plantation in Louisiana, which he was rescued from in 1853.”

Chiwetel Ejiofor has already signed on to play Northup but it is currently unknown who Fassbender will play. Although, it is likely to be the role of a “Canadian carpenter” who helped free Northup.

Personally, I have been waiting for this announcement for weeks. The two clearly have a powerful working chemistry that produces amazing films and after Fassbender stated he want to have a “Scorsese and DeNiro type” working relationship with McQueen, it is no wonder he has joined the film.

The film is gearing up for an early 2012 shoot, but it isnt known if it will shoot before or after Fassbender wraps the new Jim Jarmusch film, which will co-star Mia Waikowska, John Hurt and Tilda Swinton, which is set to begin filming in January.

12 Years A Slave is eyeing a release in late 2012 or sometime in 2013.
