Avengers: Endgame Deleted Scene Photo Reveals Captain Marvel On Vormir

A still taken from a deleted scene from Avengers: Endgame reveals that at one point, Captain Marvel was going to be on Vormir.

In their quest to reclaim all the Infinity Stones from across the timeline, Black Widow and Hawkeye went off to Vormir in Avengers: Endgame in order to find the Soul Stone. While there, though, they learned the terrible truth behind the gem, something fans already knew from Avengers: Infinity War.

That is, to get the Stone and save the universe, one of the heroes had to die. If you’ve seen the film (which we imagine you have if you’re reading this), you’ll know that after a self-sacrificial fight between the two of them, Natasha Romanoff threw herself off the cliff-face and Clint Barton ultimately took the Soul Stone from the planet and brought it back to Avengers HQ.

We don’t really know how or why the team decided who would go to collect which Stones though, so it reality, it could’ve been any pair of characters that had to make the terrible decision on Vormir. And it seems that at one point, Captain Marvel was involved. Or at least, that’s what this BTS shot from a deleted scene seems to imply, as it sees Brie Larson’s heroine on a set that looks an awful lot like the planet where the Soul Stone is kept.

See for yourself in the gallery below (which also includes some other BTS pics):

While it’s true that this set the actress is on could be something other than Vormir, you can certainly see the similarities in the photo above. What’s confusing though is why the script would’ve ever had Captain Marvel going to get the Soul Stone. I mean, we all knew she was 100% going to survive the events of Avengers: Endgame, so it wouldn’t have been too dramatic had she been sent to retrieve it as we would’ve known she wouldn’t be the one to make the sacrifice.

Then again, perhaps the Vormir situation was different in initial drafts of the script and this deleted scene is simply Carol arriving on the planet to help out Nat and Hawkeye. After all, we heard that at one point, Thanos was going to be involved as well in the scene, so perhaps Captain Marvel’s come to save the day?

In any case, this BTS shot is an intriguing look at one of Avengers: Endgame‘s deleted scenes and will surely inspire some discussion online.
