Well, it looks like the United States will have a severe disadvantage in avoiding spoilers from Spider-Man: Far From Home. While the latest series of posters promoting the film were roasted for their simplistic design, the one sent out to China will surely make people even angrier.
And why’s that? Well, the new international poster and trailer for the film have confirmed that Spidey will be returning to the big screens in the Middle Kingdom on June 28th – an entire week before North America and Europe.
You can check the one sheet out for yourself below:
While no one except the executives at Marvel Studios can really understand the politics that go into a decision like this, it does seem a little strange to the onlooking eye. If the United States wasn’t going to be among the first to see the sure-to-be blockbuster, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that Europe would get that top slot, given that’s where the action’s going to take place.
But it looks like the fans across the pond in China will be the first to get their hands on the new film, as well as the MCU’s multiverse, which is expected to premiere in Far From Home. Though this isn’t the end of the world by any stretch, what this means is that everyone over here will have to be especially careful on the internet towards the end of the month. That is, if they’d like to avoid spoilers.
However, if there’s one good thing that comes from this development, it’s the new trailer that was released to coincide with the date change. Starting off with another shot of the Tower Bridge on fire, we get a greater sense of the destruction the Elementals are going to reap in Europe. And also the struggles that Peter will face with his duties as the web-slinging superhero now that the world has lost Iron Man.
But until the end of the month, everyone will have to keep looking at these same sorts of marketing materials to speculate on what the new film’s really about. So be extra careful online come June 28th, and be sure to check out Spider-Man: Far From Home when it swings into theaters over here on July 2nd.
