Avengers: Endgame left fans with something of a promise that one of the most enjoyable crossovers from Avengers: Infinity War could continue in the future of the MCU. If you’ll recall, Thor was last seen traveling back into space onboard the Benatar with the Guardians. Many are hoping that this means the God of Thunder will stick around for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But what does Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, say about the idea?
CinemaBlend caught up with the Australian star to promote Men in Black International and couldn’t resist asking him if there’s any chance he’ll continue to get on Star-Lord’s nerves in the threequel. The actor said that as long as it gives him something different to do with the character, as the last three movies have done, he’d be up for anything. Though he did admit that he knows nothing about the production of Vol. 3.Â
“I’d play that character again. I love it so much – especially if there’s something unique to do again with it. I felt like the last three films were very, very different each time. It really felt like a totally different character. And I don’t even know when or if they’re shooting [Guardians of the Galaxy 3]. After the Avengers press tour I kind of went and buried my head in the sand.”
The interviewer then suggested that Thor joining the “Asgardians of the Galaxy,” as the hero calls them at the conclusion of Endgame, would be an exciting new chapter in his story. Hemsworth agreed and joked that he might chase this potential job up with the folks at Marvel.
“I’ll work with any of those guys. Asgardians Of The Galaxy. That’s actually great. You might’ve just got me my next job. Thank you, man.”
The good news is that if he doesn’t end up appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Thor 4 is in the works as well. Tessa Thompson has revealed that a follow-up to Ragnarok has been pitched with herself and director Taika Waititi expected to return. And with Hemsworth confirming that he wants to play Thor again, it’s now up to Kevin Feige and Marvel to decide what to do with him.
