Us, Jordan Peele’s incredible sophomore effort, has a total of six deleted scenes. And today Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first.

It’s not the most exciting, mind you, nor is it the most disturbing; if anything, it just adds another layer to Adelaide’s character (and her doppelgänger!), while proving that Elisabeth Moss’ self-absorbed Kitty really is the worst. Embedded below, this particular deleted scene takes place on the sun-kissed beach of Santa Cruz, just before the unsuspecting Jason stumbles upon the first above-ground clone, standing resolute like a demonic scarecrow.

Pay close attention to Adelaide’s dialogue and you’ll notice that she’s actually foreshadowing the reveal of her own doppelgänger, who spent years attempting to perfect the same dance routine, deep within the bowels of America’s underbelly. It’s all part of Peele’s strategy to create a monster movie mythology.

For my second feature, I wanted to create a monster mythology. I wanted to do something that was more firmly in the horror genre but still held on to my love of movies that are twisted but fun.

Like we said before, this is the first of six deleted scenes to be included with Us, while we understand the eventual Blu-ray release will also come packing a number of extended scenes, just for good measure. As if Jordan Peele’s chilling horror wasn’t disturbing enough, we’ll soon have even more Us content to pore over. It’ll debut via digital platforms tomorrow, June 4th, before making its way onto home video two weeks later.

Here’s a full overview of those deleted scenes:

  • I Am Not Even Near You
  • Rabbit Season
  • That’s Badass
  • Driftwood
  • The P is Silent
  • I Wanna Go Home
  • We’re All Dying – Hilarious outtakes from the conversation between Winston Duke and Tim Heidecker on the beach.
  • As Above, So Below: Grand Pas de Deux – An extended version of the dance sequence from the film, cutting between adolescent Adelaide at her recital to Red in the Underpass.

Jordan Peele’s Us will be released via digital platforms tomorrow, June 4th, followed by Blu-ray, 4K and DVD on June 18th. The only question left now is, will you pluck up the courage to confront the Tethered? Do let us know.
