Chris Hemsworth Reveals He’s Taking A Break From Hollywood

Avengers: Endgame teased fans with the fact that the most enjoyable crossover from Avengers: Infinity War could continue in future films. If you'll recall, Thor was last seen heading into space onboard the Benatar with the Guardians. The implication, of course, is that the God of Thunder will stick around for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In fact, when CinemaBlend caught up with Chris Hemsworth last week, he seemed totally down to join Star-Lord and co. on their next adventure – even if he claims to know nothing about what Marvel has planned for the film.

“I’d play that character again. I love it so much – especially if there’s something unique to do again with it. I felt like the last three films were very, very different each time. It really felt like a totally different character. And I don’t even know when or if they’re shooting [Guardians of the Galaxy 3]. After the Avengers press tour I kind of went and buried my head in the sand.”

So, the Thor star definitely seems into the idea, but there might be one small problem. Apparently, Chris Hemsworth is planning on taking a break from Hollywood. Speaking to Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, he said that he wants to be around his children more and after being so busy for the last few years, he just wants to be at home.

“This year I probably won’t shoot anything,” said Hemsworth. “I just want to be at home now with my kids. They are at a very important age. They are still young and they are aware when I leave more than before.”

Now, it should be noted that Guardians Vol. 3 isn’t rumored to be shooting until early 2021, so depending on how long this break actually lasts – and when exactly it’s starting – the actor could return to Hollywood on time to be part of the threequel. For instance, if it’s from now until June 2020, then that’ll give him more than enough time to get back in shape and reprise his role as Thor.

If, however, he means this coming year, as in 2020, that he’ll be taking a break, well, that could make things a bit trickier. Either way, though, we’re sure he’s informed Marvel of his plans and if the studio does indeed want Chris Hemsworth in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, we’ve no doubt they’ll find a way to work around his schedule.
