Earlier tonight at E3 2019, Square Enix finally pulled back the curtain on Marvel's Avengers, showing off a sizzling new trailer for the game.

If you’ve been around long enough, then you surely know that licensed video games aren’t always that impressive – especially when it comes to the superhero genre. Sure, there’ve been exceptions to the rule, as the likes of X-Men Legends, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Batman: Arkham Asylum were all great fun, but for the most part, they usually aren’t worth your hard earned dough.

Thankfully, things look to be on the up and up, as the long-gestating Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix will soon see the light of day, and tonight, the developer dropped a stunning new trailer for the project, giving us an idea of the story it’ll tell and also providing a pretty good look at what’s coming our way.

As you can see in the video above, things seemingly kick off on A-Day, or Avengers Day, which seems to be going well until things take a turn for the worse, resulting in the titular team being disbanded. Many familiar faces show up here as well, with Iron Man, Cap, Black Widow, Hulk and more all putting in appearances, which should make MCU fans feel right at home.

Frankly, it’s a little disappointing that they couldn’t get the likeness and/or the voices of the actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it’s a bit off-putting seeing these heroes looking and sounding so different than what we’re used to. But still, that shouldn’t take away from what otherwise seems to be a truly impressive title, and one that’ll no doubt put the valuable brand that is The Avengers to good use.

And besides, they’ve certainly assembled (pun intended) a solid cast to replace the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and co., with Troy Baker playing Bruce Banner, Jeff Schine as Captain America, Travis Willingham as Thor, Laura Bailey as Black Widow and Nolan North as Tony Stark. Beyond that, we know that Marvel’s Avengers will feature both single player and multiplayer co-op, won’t have loot boxes and promises that every new hero and region will be available at no additional cost.

All things considered then, it’s looking like this will be a must-have title when it drops in early 2020 and as E3 continues, we’ll be sure to bring you all the latest on it once Square Enix reveals more.
