Zombie also confirmed that the infamous Captain Spaulding will be returning and says that the flick will take place immediately after the events of The Devil’s Rejects. The director/writer additionally said that the film will be released some time in September, though the exact date of release is still to be determined. Thankfully, however, he didn’t disclose how the protagonists survived their last big screen outing, even though it looks like he’s been asked by more than a few curious parties.

Rumors and photos have been leaking about 3 From Hell for over a year now, but little’s still known about the actual plot. It’s been divulged though that there’ll be a second terrifying clown onscreen this time around and while Zombie’s comments today may have lifted the curtain a little bit about his latest project, there’s a lot that still needs to be learned.

For now, what we can tell you with certainty is that the pic will act as a direct sequel to The Devil’s Rejects, which itself is a follow-up to House of 1,000 Corpses. Both movies relied heavily on gore and extreme violence to shock and captivate moviegoers and given that it’s been fourteen years since the last installment in the franchise, it’s understandable why fans are so eager to learn as much as they can about 3 From Hell.
