Storm X-Men

Dark Phoenix Star Wants A Storm Crossover Movie

Despite being played by two actresses across six movies, Storm has never been particularly well-served by the X-Men franchise. As one of the most popular and powerful mutant heroes in the comics, Ororo should be running the show, but she's often sidelined and not given much character development. Dark Phoenix star Alexandra Shipp would love to change all that in a Storm solo movie though that sees the heroine meeting her future self, Halle Berry.

Despite being played by two actresses across six movies, Storm has never been particularly well-served by the X-Men franchise. As one of the most popular and powerful mutant heroes in the comics, Ororo should be running the show, but she’s often sidelined and not given much character development. Dark Phoenix star Alexandra Shipp would love to change all that in a Storm solo movie though that sees the heroine meeting her future self, Halle Berry.

Shipp spoke to ComicBook.com recently and revealed her ambitious idea for a Storm spinoff, featuring herself, Berry and even additional versions of the character, all of whom would come together to save the day using their kick-ass weather-controlling abilities.

“Okay, so this is what I’ve come up with. I think it’d be really cool if you had me and Halle [Berry] both teaming up together and fighting a baddie. We have to save the planet past, future, present, maybe throw in Yara [Shahidi] in there, and have her be a young one, or Amandla [Stenberg] be the younger one. I think it’d be even cooler. So I feel like we just gotta get a whole bunch of Storms together, because then people will just be like, ‘Oh my God, that’s so much Storm.'”

Shipp’s always been keen to expand her role, ever since she joined the X-Men in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. This isn’t the first time that she’s pitched a Storm solo film, either, and she’s also voiced her wish to team-up with Black Panther in the MCU. In the comics, of course, Ororo and T’Challa were married for a time.

While Storm, along with the rest of mutantkind, is set to join the MCU now that Marvel Studios has the rights to the X-Men again, word has it that they’ll reboot every character across the board except Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. So, though we might one day get a Storm movie or a Black Panther crossover, it just probably won’t be Alexandra Shipp starring in it. Or even Halle Berry.

For now, though, you can catch Storm in Dark Phoenix, which is currently in cinemas.
