While promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed to Screen Rant that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are set to take on Thanos once more in an extra-long cut of the final film in the Infinity Saga:

There will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.

It sounds like this version of Endgame will be even more emotional than the first, as it’s safe to say that the tribute will be in honor of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the film’s massive final battle. As for the deleted scene, we’ve heard rumblings here and there of subplots cut from the movie, but at the moment it’s anyone’s guess as to what we’ll see added back. Will this scene become the new canonical post-credits Endgame tag, or is it just for fun? We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

Either way, though, adding this footage to the very, very end of the movie is a great way to please fans that have stuck around for over a decade, considering the theatrical cut of the pic was the first Marvel film without a post-credits scene. After directors Joe and Anthony Russo lifted its spoiler ban, later runs included a trailer for Far From Home that couldn’t have aired before the film, lest it ruins the heartbreaking finale for those yet to see it.

Avengers: Endgame has already amassed a $2.743 billion global box office total, and you can bet the June 28th re-release of this mega-blockbuster won’t be the last. Not only is it so close to dethroning Avatar’s record, but it sounds like Disney may make an end of the year Oscar push. After all, what could be more deserving of an award than the epic conclusion of a film series that changed the industry forever?
