Halloween 2 Will Shoot This Fall, Jamie Lee Curtis Set To Return

Blumhouse is officially moving forward with a Halloween sequel and better yet, Jamie Lee Curtis is expected to return to lead the film.

When it comes to old-school horror, there’s really only one master: the legendary John Carpenter.

So, we can only imagine how nervous David Gordon Green and Danny McBride were when they first pitched their idea for a full-blown sequel to Halloween to him. But this wasn’t just any sequel, as the duo was hoping to completely change the ending of Carpenter’s 1978 classic and totally ignore the likes of Season of the Witch and Return of Michael Myers.

Though it was a risky plan, it certainly paid off. Indeed, Halloween was praised by both critics and fans alike for being one of the franchise’s most enjoyable outings in years and collected a cool $255 million at the global box office. Ever since, there’s been a good amount of chatter about a potential sequel getting the green light from Blumhouse. And though the studio has yet to comment on it, Collider is now reporting that things are all set to move forward on that front.

According to the outlet, multiple sources have told them that what’s being referred to as Halloween 2 will shoot this fall, after Labor Day, and that it’ll likely hit theaters on October 16th, 2020. Better yet is that Jamie Lee Curtis is expected to return to reprise her role as Laurie Strode, with Judy Greer and Andi Matichak said to be back on board as well.

Plot-wise, there’s no word on what the story may involve, but it’s believed that David Gordon Green – who directed 2018’s reboot – wrote the script for the sequel and might return to helm it as well. At the time, though, that remains to be confirmed.

Still, it’s pretty clear that things are finally starting to come together for Halloween 2 and we imagine that Blumhouse will make an official announcement on the project any day now, so stay tuned.
