Sony Says A Live-Action Spider-Man Film With Holland, Maguire And Garfield Is Possible

Last December's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a huge treat for comic book fans as it introduced the concept of a multiverse full of Spider-people to cinemagoing audiences for the first time. As great as it was, though, we can't help but salivate at the idea of a live-action Spider-Verse happening, with Tom Holland getting to team up with past Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in an epic crossover movie.

Holland himself has recently expressed his interest in doing just that, but what do those who can actually make it happen say? Well, Sony producer Amy Pascal was asked about the potential for a three-way Spider-Man crossover while speaking to Badtaste.it and she gave fans hope by not ruling it out.

“There are [possibilities]. Everything is possible. It would be very interesting.”

Pascal went on to add that she found the whole concept of the Spider-verse “extremely exciting” and made clear that she “completely loved” the recent animated film that focused on Miles Morales.

From what we know so far, Sony is definitely committed to exploring more of the Spider-Verse going forward, with numerous animated spinoffs being developed, both on the big and small screens. Specifically, we’ve heard of solo projects for Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man 2099 and a Spider-Women movie.

Seeing as Spider-Verse was as successful as it was, though, the studio must be tempted to do something similar in live-action. Interestingly, the filmmakers behind the project did consider making Jake Johnson’s Peter B. Parker the Maguire version early on in the process, but ultimately decided against it. It’s unclear if the star of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy actually would return to the role if asked, though. The same goes for Garfield.

Don’t expect these two to show up in it, but Spider-Man: Far From Home will open the doors to the multiverse in the MCU when it arrives in theaters next month. Be sure to catch it on July 2nd.
