Hot off the news that Helena Bonham Carter is teaming up with Millie Bobby Brown for Enola Holmes, Deadline brings word today that Henry Cavill, star of Justice League and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, has agreed to play the part of Sherlock, the whip-smart resident of 221b Baker Street.

Adapted from the Enola Holmes Mysteries book series by Nancy Springer, this live-action gig shifts the focus from Sherlock to Enola – from big brother to little sis’ – who proves to be every bit as cunning as her surname would suggest. From what we understand, Millie Bobby Brown is set to headline the drama as Enola (another high-profile credit for the up-and-coming star, who’s still riding high after Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the soon-to-be-released Stranger Things 3), with Carter in talks to play her mother.

Cavill, on the other hand, is due to pick up the mantle of Sherlock Holmes, and will soon become the latest in a long line of actors to tackle Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary sleuth.

Of course, Cavill is no stranger to stepping into big shoes, having shouldered the role of Clark Kent/Superman for Warner Bros. His immediate future in the DC universe is still subject to debate, but one thing’s immediately clear: the towering Brit is wasting no time hanging around for the next live-action Superman movie to take flight. And this Enola Holmes project only drives the point home.

It’ll be directed by Harry Bradbeer from a script by Jack Thorne, and while Legendary is keeping things hush-hush for now, word is Enola Holmes‘ first big screen case will revolve around “a missing teen whose father has been murdered.” No word on whether Mycroft has been cast, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this project as it begins to coalesce.
