There’s no doubt about it, Square Enix sure loves its trailers. A new one out of New York Comic-Con earlier today, showcases some story elements from upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2, and bridges the first and second game a little bit, while bringing just a touch of actual gameplay.

And is that……quick time events? In MY Final Fantasy? Hmmm.

The seven-minute long trailer is a mish-mash of new and old characters of varying sizes, hairstyles and perceived ages doing everything from combating monsters to engaging in surprisingly shallow dialogue to exploring the delicate fabric of time and space.

I’m not kidding, but I love it. See for yourself.

Although the original Final Fantasy XIII was met with very mixed reception (I loved it personally,) it seems like Square Enix is trying to address one of the biggest complaints of the first game, which was that all the characters had personalities resembling that of signposts.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is scheduled for release on PS3 and XBOX 360 on January 31, 2012

What say you, gamers? Anyone sold that the sequel will be better than the original?
