HBO has just made a deal to turn the Academy Award nominated film The Kids are All Right into an hour-long series. According to Deadline, the film’s co-writer and director, Lisa Cholodenko, will write the pilot script.

The film told the story of a lesbian couple (Annette Bening  and Julianne Moore), their kids (Josh Hutcherson and Mia Wasikowska) and the sperm donor father (Mark Ruffalo) who came into their lives and almost tore the family apart. The series will continue the stories of those five main characters.

HBO is still working on deals for the show, such as casting and filming dates. Cholodenko will also serve as the show’s executive producer, along with Jeffrey Levy-Hinte, Gary Gilbert and Celine Rattray, who were also all producers on the film.

That’s all that is really know at this point but as more information comes in we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
