Spider-Man: Far From Home Director Teases Scorpion And Vulture’s Possible Return

Spider-Man: Homecoming gave us one of the MCU's best ever villains in the form of Adrian Toomes/the Vulture, as played by former Batman Michael Keaton. The movie's post-credits scene teased more from him to come, too, as he met up with his criminal ally, Mac Gargan/Scorpion, in jail, with a chip on his shoulder against Spidey. It was a little surprising, then, that neither Vulture or Scorpion showed up in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

It’s not out of the question that either of these supervillains could reappear in Spider-Man 3, though. Director Jon Watts spoke to Digital Spy and explained that there just wasn’t a story reason for either character to feature in Far From Home so their return would’ve felt “shoehorned-in.”

“We never really found the right moment to do something like that. It’s always just about it being right for the story and not just some sort of shoehorned-in cameo.”

That said, Watts isn’t ruling out the idea of the characters coming back in the future. The filmmaker teased that the villains are still out there in the MCU and voiced his interest in continuing to expand Spider-Man’s corner of the franchise.

“But I do love the idea that they’re both still out there, and I like the idea that as we move forward with these films, we’re building out this rich world that we can continually draw from.”

There were so many rumors pointing to the formation of the Sinister Six in Far From Home that most of us were fully expecting Keaton and Michael Mando to drop by as their characters in the sequel. Likewise, Norman Osborn was thought to be making his MCU debut in the movie, setting up his role as the MCU’s next big bad. We’re unclear if there was any truth to these theories, but it seems like Watts is open to some sort of supervillain team-up in time.

Tell us, though, are you disappointed that Vulture and Scorpion weren’t in Spider-Man: Far From HomeJoin the conversation in the comments section down below.
