Here’s What Joe Taslim Could Look Like As Sub-Zero In Mortal Kombat Movie

Concept artist extraordinaire BossLogic has produced a new piece of artwork which images the newly-cast Joe Taslim as Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero.

Ask anyone to name their favorite Mortal Kombat fighter and they’ll likely nominate Sub-Zero.

He’s the ice-cool brawler capable of slinging out devastating ice blasts at a moment’s notice, so it was with great excitement that we brought you the news that Joe Taslim of The Raid had landed the role of Sub-Zero in the live-action Mortal Kombat movie currently in development from James Wan.

And as is often the case with a new casting announcement – particularly in the sphere of blockbuster movies – concept artist extraordinaire BossLogic has now rendered a new piece which imagines Taslim in the role of everyone’s favorite ice ninja. It’s an incredible mock-up, and we imagine the likes of Scorpion, Liu Kang, and Kitana will all be quaking in their boots.

Perhaps what’s most exciting about Taslim’s casting is the fact that the actor has previous martial arts experience – tons of it, in fact – so it’s pretty clear that James Wan and his team are committing to an authentic interpretation of the iconic video game franchise.

Something that can’t be said about the ill-fated Mortal Kombat adaptation of ’95, which is arguably up there competing with Super Mario Bros. for the worst video game movie ever made. Let’s hope this new version of MK can rise above mediocrity and deliver something special… and brutal.

The live-action Mortal Kombat movie is currently being overseen by James Wan and the team at Warner Bros. It won’t be with us until 2021, but don’t fret! There’s still new MK content available, as developer NetherRealm recently brought the deliciously brutal MK11 to PS4, Xbox One and PC. Even the Switch got a port of the brawler!
