Arrow EP Reveals Season 8 Premiere’s Title

If you're able to accurately remember how close Arrow producers held their cards to the vest one year ago, then you may be able to draw a parallel to our current situation. As the eighth and final season draws closer, we still don't fully know what to expect. One would hope more details will be brought to light at San Diego Comic-Con next week, but much mystery will likely be preserved.

Based on the information we’ve received thus far though, it may be fair to assume the show will veer more toward the direction of science fiction than we’re used to seeing. After all, even Stephen Amell has hinted at Arrow season 8 essentially serving as a prelude to the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.

Adding to the intrigue is that of executive producer and current showrunner Beth Schwartz, who posted the following image on Twitter. As you can see, it’s the front page to the season premiere’s script – and it reveals the title to be “Starling City.”

As you should recall, “Starling City” was the name of the area where the show takes place, before it was later rechristened as “Star City.” If I were to hazard an educated guess, Oliver Queen and the Monitor will visit a parallel universe where the metropolis in question was never renamed. Perhaps supporting this theory is Schwartz herself, who placed an inverted script directly next to the one that’s rightside up. Something tells me that didn’t occur on accident.

Regardless, we should be in for one heck of a barn-burner. Joining Schwartz on writing duties for the premiere will be consulting producer and former showrunner Marc Guggenheim, so this’ll likely be a good episode. Not only that, but James Bamford’s directing, so that guarantees this installment will be action-packed.

Arrow returns with new episodes on Tuesday, October 15th on The CW.
