Toy Story 4 Being Boycotted Over Subtle Gay Background Characters

Toy Story 4 has been overwhelmingly praised by both critics and audiences alike since it released earlier this summer. Not everyone is pleased with the film, though. The frequent whiner group known as One Million Moms is furious about an extremely brief moment in the movie that they feel normalizes a lifestyle that they’re vehemently opposed to.

In their own words:

“[Some] praise it as a ‘small moment of normalization, which is exactly why 1MM finds this to be so dangerous. It has not been mentioned much in mainstream media, which could appear as acceptance when really it was because it happened so fast.

But the scene was included and intentionally not announced prior to the movie release in hopes it would be kept quiet to expose as many children as possible. So many families probably plan on seeing this movie if they haven’t already and will be blindsided by this subtle but obvious promotion of the LGBTQ lifestyle.”

The scene that has the online assembly all rattled up is a brief five-second clip that most viewers will barely even notice. When Bonnie is headed to school for the first time, one of her classmates is dropped off by her two moms. Later, both parents return to pick up their child. That’s it.

This is the moment that has all of these Internet dweebs so furious. In all likelihood, none of them even noticed the scene the first time they watched it and only realized upon looking at the web that it even took place. That’s probably why it took over three weeks since the movie’s initial release for this outrage to rise. The group’s boycott of the feature likely won’t have any impact on the flick’s financial performance though, especially considering the fact that it’s already grossed over $662 million worldwide.

If One Million Moms is mad now because of a couple of background gay characters, just wait till they find out where Disney may be headed next. Rumors have been swirling for years that Elsa may come out as lesbian in Frozen 2. While this small section of the Internet might be infuriated by the very idea of it, the rest of the web sound like they’d be more than happy to finally have some major LGBTQ representation in a children’s movie.

Regardless, count on One Million Moms to be mad at one thing or another in the near future. Meanwhile, go catch Toy Story 4 in theaters now and enjoy the five-second scene that’s making all of those trolls angry.
