Avengers: Infinity War Deleted Scene Reveals Spider-Man Saved The Guardians Of The Galaxy

Tom Holland may be doing the press rounds for Spider-Man: Far From Home, but that hasn't stopped people from asking questions about The Avengers. Endgame might still be playing in theaters as it attempts to overtake James Cameron's Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time, but Jon Watts' web-slinging sequel has now taken up the mantle of most talked-about movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Nonetheless, while discussing the massive back-to-back successes of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, the 23 year-old actor revealed how he shot a scene between Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Thanos and the Guardians of the Galaxy that was left on the cutting room floor when Infinity War was being assembled:

“There was a scene in Infinity War that actually didn’t make the edit. It didn’t make the edit and it was basically Thanos, like, snapped his fingers or something and all the Guardians became astral forms, and then I had to try and grab all their bodies and put them back in the astral form.”

Quite a vague description, and it doesn’t even sound as though Holland himself is quite sure how to explain it. However, the deleted scene at least allowed the cast to get some much needed rest, with the Far From Home star adding:

“At one point, they’re all lying down on the floor, all the Guardians, and Karen fell asleep because she was so tired for being up so early all the time for the Nebula makeup.”

It makes sense as to why the scene wouldn’t have made the final cut; having Thanos snap his fingers one too many times would only dilute the power of the Infinity Gauntlet as a plot device, and it makes much more narrative sense to save the one and only snap to add more weight to Avengers: Infinity War‘s gut-wrenching finale.
