Jessica Chastain Pushed For As Much Blood As Possible In IT: Chapter Two

IT: Chapter Two is looking to be a much more gruesome affair than its predecessor, and apparently Jessica Chastain was all for it.

IT took the world by storm two years ago. Whatever the reason may be – not the least of which I suspect would be Stephen King’s early blessing and appraisal – the film went on to become the highest grossing R-rated horror movie of all time. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait the full 27-year cycle before we got IT: Chapter Two, and as the world prepares for SDCC, all eyes are looking towards the highly-anticipated finale.

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve gotten more and more intel on the upcoming fright fest, including a brand new trailer. And from what we can tell, IT: Chapter Two is going to be even bloodier, even angrier, and yes, even scarier than the 2017 smash hit.

While there’s surely going to be a lot in the film that goes into those characteristics, one particular scene’s caught a lot of people’s eyes. And unfortunately for poor Beverly Marsh, the blood looks like it’ll be coming from the same place it did two years ago: her bathroom.

Jessica Chastain, who’ll be playing the adult version of Beverly, has been more than vocal about this sequence, citing someone on set as saying that it contains the most blood of any horror scene ever. That’d be quite the accomplishment to say the least (thinking about The Shining). But the actress went into more detail at the Warner Bros. ScareDiego event last night, saying that she was all in:

“I was like, ‘No, if we’re going to do it, let’s do it.’ I love horror films, I love Carrie, and I said, ‘Let’s make Carrie on steroids.’ And that’s what we did and it literally tortured me because I didn’t realize that it would be that way the whole movie.”

So, there you have it. Apparently this entire film’s “Carrie on steroids.” Geez, I don’t know if I’m ready.

But how does that news strike you? Can September 6th not come soon enough? Or do you think the hype for IT: Chapter Two is unwarranted? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
