Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, echoed the sentiment by saying: “Thanks to you [fans], Avengers: Endgame is the biggest film of all-time.” Expect the rest of the cast and crew to come out with messages of appreciation as well over the next couple of days.

That brief tweet from Joe and Anthony Russo is just the beginning of their hat tip to the fans. The brothers have recently embarked on their We Love You 3000 tour as a way to give back to all of those who went out in droves to watch their blockbuster flick. If they felt that they were indebted to their audience before, now they must really feel that they have to make all of the events as special as possible.

While Marvel should certainly celebrate this major accomplishment, there’s a decent chance that their place at the top might be short-lived. James Cameron already has several long-awaited Avatar sequels on the way, which all have a chance to outperform both their predecessor and the new frontrunner. Marvel, however, isn’t expected to go quietly. They have a plethora of new projects on the horizon and could very well bury the competition of any competing franchise for years to come.

This healthy competition is great for the fans and the studios, but definitely the best for Disney. The massive media conglomerate owns the MCU, AvatarStar Wars, Pixar and more. The Russo brothers have shown that they’re incredibly grateful to viewers, but none more so than the company who seems to keep printing money no matter what film holds the coveted throne atop the cinematic landscape.

Avengers: Endgame is currently still playing in theaters for those who want to continue to help the feature pad its record.
