Kevin Feige Says Marvel’s Already Planned Out The MCU’s Phase Five

Marvel Studios have only just officially confirmed Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following an action-packed panel at last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con, but that hasn’t stopped Kevin Feige from planning even further into the future.

The studio announced a huge slate of film and television projects at Comic-Con, with the big and small screen aspects of the MCU tying closer together than ever before. Between now and the end of 2021 fans will be treated to Black Widow, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, WandaVision, Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, What If…?, Hawkeye and Thor: Love and Thunder, but Feige admitted that he could have revealed even more:

“We debated what we should announce today. Should we announce Phase Four and Five? We’ve planned them out, we’ve got five years down the road and I was like, I think eleven projects in two years is plenty having not mentioned anything for two or three years.”

The Comic-Con panel culminated with the huge news that Mahershala Ali would be starring in a Blade reboot, but the President of Marvel Studios dropped even more hints at the end of his time on stage about the future of the MCU following Phase Four:

“We didn’t even mention that we’re making Black Panther 2. We didn’t even talk about that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is coming. We didn’t have time to talk about Captain Marvel 2. I didn’t even have time to talk about the Fantastic Four. And there’s no time left to talk about mutants and how mutants come into the MCU.”

Phase Four hasn’t even started yet, but Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already looking absolutely stacked. As well as sequels to three billion-dollar hits (Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is expected to hit that milestone by the end of this week), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the Blade reboot and possibly even a third Ant-Man or fifth Avengers, the studio can now also call on the Fantastic Four and X-Men to add to their incredible roster of superheroes. Suffice it to say, the future looks brighter than ever for Marvel.
