While Avengers: Endgame was filled with plenty of tearjerking moments – be sure to check out Iron Man’s tragic death and a new deleted scene if you haven’t already – the Russo brothers’ magnum opus has plenty of lighthearted and downright hilarious segments, too. One of our personal favorites is when Bruce Banner and Rocket Raccoon head to New Asgard, only to find that Thor has fallen into a rut, choosing to spend his time drinking beer and eating junk food while playing Fortnite with Korg and Miek.
As we’ve previously reported, Avengers: Endgame was released on digital platforms earlier this week, and fans have been diving into the bonus featurettes and deleted scenes. In addition, the home release comes with a commentary featuring directors Joe and Anthony Russo and co-writer Christopher Markus.
As expected, this pack-in provides plenty of interesting trivia and behind-the-scenes info on how the film came together. Unsurprisingly, the trio had a lot of fun bringing Thor, Korg, and Miek into the movie, and joked about wanting to see them in their own show.
“I wanna see, like, seven seasons of this show. Of Thor, Korg and Miek hanging out in this cabin. This feels like a sublime BBC Comedy,” Joe said.
“I’m also very fond of the fact that the magical weapon he took the entire last movie to get a hold of is now a bottle opener,” Markus added.
“Also major kudos to our sound design team because that ring out on that bottle cap opening is very sweet,” Anthony chimed in.
As ComicBook.com points out, it’s not very likely this show would come to fruition, but there’s always a chance Thor, Korg, and Miek could make a return in Thor: Love and Thunder. Considering Taika Waititi is returning to the director’s chair, it seems likely since he also happens to voice Korg.
In any case, if you’ve yet to do so, be sure to check out the entirety of Avengers: Endgame‘s commentary track, as it contains plenty of interesting tidbits and anecdotes that most MCU fans would appreciate. If you’d rather hold out for a physical copy though, you’ll be glad to hear that Blu-Ray and UHD versions are due out on August 13th.
