Zombieland: Double Tap Star Wants To Play Batgirl For DC

Zombieland: Double Tap star Zoey Deutch is the latest actress to throw her hat into the ring to play the role of Batgirl for DC.

Remember the Batgirl movie? It seemed to be shaping up pretty nicely back when Joss Whedon was set to write and direct in 2017. However, after Justice League turned out to be a colossal failure, Whedon departed and shortly after, the script was revamped with Birds of Prey‘s Christina Hodson reinterpreting how Barbara Gordon should be brought to life in the DCEU. Unfortunately, since then we haven’t had too many updates and with Warner Bros. currently busy with a whole host of other projects, things may stay that way for a while.

That hasn’t stopped a number of actresses from throwing their name into the hat, though, and the latest to do so is Zoey Deutch. The star, who will soon be seen in Zombieland: Double Tap, was interacting with some fans on Twitter recently when someone suggested she take on the role of Batgirl. And as you can see down below, Deutch was all for it.

Of course, just because Deutch is interested doesn’t mean that this will happen, but she’d certainly be a good choice for the role and we’d have no problem if she were to snag it. Then again, we’re also hearing that the studio wants an A-lister and someone with a high profile, so that could rule Zoey out given that she’s not a huge name just yet.

In any case, here’s hoping that we get an official announcement soon telling us exactly who we can expect to see suit up as Batgirl in her first cinematic appearance since Alicia Silverstone stunk up the place with 1997’s Batman and Robin. Until then, though, tell us, who would you like to see in the role? As always, sound off down below with your thoughts and stay tuned for further updates.
