Following the success of the recent Batman: Hush animated movie, director Justin Copeland is keen to take a turn into a live-action Dark Knight film. Speaking to Popcorn Talk Network's DC Movie News, Copeland was asked which Batman story he'd most want to direct next, and chose the "No Man's Land" arc. Furthermore, Copeland wants to work with Robert Pattinson, who will be making his debut as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' The Batman.

“It would definitely be “No Man’s Land,” said the director. “If I had carte blanche, like, you can do whatever you want, I wanna tell the “No Man’s Land” story from the angle of Cassandra Cain. I would love it, that would be a dream.”

Going on to discuss why Pattinson would be ideal for the role, he remarked:

‘As a film director, I see that dude as a very — as an incredible actor. You wanna be able to get on set and not have to worry about your right flank. When you can get a superstar actor like that, which I think he is, you are lucky. I would use him.”

For those not in the know, “No Man’s Land” was a year-long arc across DC Comics’ Batman and other series in 1999, focusing on Gotham City being cut off from mainland America by earthquakes. Within the city, the Dark Knight and other characters had to fight to keep the peace against an extensive cast of villains.

Of course, Gotham fans will know that “No Man’s Land” has already been tackled by the Fox series, while the concept has been variously considered for several animated stories and formed a loose basis for the Batman: Arkham City game.

We’d certainly be keen to see Copeland adapt “No Man’s Land” after his excellent work on Batman: Hush, though it’s unlikely that he’ll get the chance to get his hands on Pattinson until after Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated take on the franchise. But after that? Well, we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
